Richard S. Bodman (Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer)
Richard (Dick) Bodman is an entrepreneurial businessman and investor. Dick is also Managing General Partner of VMS Group, which performs administrative & advisory services for venture capital funds, and General Manager of Bodman Oil & Gas, LLC.
Dick served as the Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, and subsequently as Assistant Director of the Office of Management and Budget in The White House. After government service, he joined DuPont and served in several management positions in Textile Fibers and Corporate Finance. He then joined the Communications Satellite Corporation as CFO and subsequently served as President & CEO of Comsat General Corporation and President of Satellite Television Corporation. He later joined AT&T as Senior VP for Strategy & Development where he co-founded AT&T Ventures, and in 1996 he simultaneously acquired AT&T Ventures and became its Co-Managing Partner, retiring from AT&T.
Dick is also currently Chairman of the Board of Telecom Development Fund. Earlier board service included Reed Elsevier, Young & Rubicam, Internet Security Systems, Lin Broadcasting, Tyco International, National Housing Partnerships, Sandia National Laboratories, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Morristown Hospital System and Naples Community Healthcare System. He received a B.S. in Engineering from Princeton University, and an M.S. in Industrial Management from M.I.T. He was a CPA and Partner at Touche Ross & Co.
Stephen W. Foss
Stephen W. Foss is the Chief Technical Officer of PurThread Technologies Inc. He is also Managing Director of Nonwoven Network, a global developer of high performance fibers and fabrics for industrial applications. Mr. Foss has over 40 years of experience in developing and manufacturing specialty fibers and fabrics. He was previously the Chairman and CEO of Foss Manufacturing, a diversified manufacturer of synthetic fibers and nonwoven fabrics.
He has served on the boards of a number of private and public companies such as Ameron International and Tyco International, as well as not-for-profits such as the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and the Institute for EthnoMedicine. Mr. Foss holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and both a Bachelors and a Masters degree in Textile Technology with high honors from North Carolina State University.
Stanley D. Chamberlain
Stanley D. Chamberlain, PhD is the Chief Scientific Officer for PurThread Technologies Inc. Dr. Chamberlain served as Vice President of Chemistry at Inhibitex, Inc. from early 2008 to 2012. He was responsible for the research and development of the anti-HCV compound INX-08189, working with academic and industrial collaborators. Prior to coming to Inhibitex, he was Senior Group Manager in Medicinal Chemistry Oncology at Glaxo SmithKline in Research Triangle Park, NC from 2001 to 2007, working in the area of protein kinase inhibitors. From 1995 to 2001, Dr. Chamberlain was a Group Leader in Medicinal Chemistry at Glaxo Wellcome in RTP, working in the areas of antiviral and anti-inflammatory chemotherapy. From 1986 to 1995, he held several Senior Scientist positions in the Experimental Therapy Department at Burroughs Wellcome in RTP, focusing on nucleoside agents for anti-viral and oncology applications. Dr. Chamberlain received a BS and a PhD from the University of Iowa Chemistry Department. Dr. Chamberlain’s publications and patents cover the areas of anti-viral, anti-cancer and anti-inflammation chemotherapy, with a focus on protein kinase inhibitors and nucleoside derivatives.
Bill O’Neill
Bill O’Neill is the Vice President of Infection Control Applications for PurThread Technologies Inc. He has over 25 years of marketing, business development, and sales experience in both product and service environments as a Senior Global Marketing Manager at Baxter Healthcare, Director of Business Development and Strategic Alliances at TCL Institute, and Vice President of Marketing for Research Information Services, Inc.
Mr. O’Neill has an MBA in marketing and finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from the State University of New York at Oswego.
Jenifer Smyth
Jenifer Smyth is the Vice President of Consumer and Military Applications for PurThread Technologies Inc. She brings over 15 years of experience in the Consumer, Internet and Industrial spaces, helping companies to market innovative technologies. Prior to PurThread, Ms. Smyth was a consultant to start-up businesses, and an Account Director at Studio V Marketing, a boutique firm aiding clients with public relations, influencer marketing and events. She was previously a Director and Director of Marketing at Foss Manufacturing, a manufacturer of specialty fibers and nonwoven fabrics, held senior positions at Della.com (now the Wedding Channel) and Excite Inc, and began her career at Hachette Filipacchi Magazines. Ms. Smyth was graduated cum laude with a B.A. in English from Middlebury College.
Michael Weldon
Michael Weldon is the Senior Director of Sales, Northeast Region for PurThread Technologies, Inc. He brings a rich background in healthcare sales. Before joining PurThread, he was Senior Director, Market Management at VHA New England, a group purchasing organization for hospitals, where he has held positions of increasing responsibility for the past 18 years. Prior to VHA, he was Senior Consultant at Andersen Consulting and Operations Manager at J.D. Cahill Company. Mr. Weldon holds an MBA in finance from the Boston College Graduate School of Management, and a BA in history and political science from the University of New Hampshire.
Lloyd W.Frick
Lloyd W. Frick is the Vice President, Biology for PurThread Technologies, Inc. Prior to joining PurThread, he was a consulting advisor to several pharmaceutical companies on drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic (DMPK) issues. From 2001-2005, he was first Principal Research Investigator, and then Director, DMPK, at Trimeris, Inc. Between 1986 and 2001, he held various research and leadership positions at Burroughs-Wellcome, GlaxoWellcome, and GlaxoSmithKline. From 1982-1986, Dr. Frick was a post-doctoral fellow studying the chemical mechanisms of enzymes. Dr. Frick holds a PhD in zoology from the University of Hawaii, and a BS in Biology from Brown University.
Jennifer Goss
Jennifer Goss is the Medical Science Liaison for PurThread Technologies, Inc. In that role, Ms. Goss serves as a scientific and clinical resource for hospitals across the U.S. as well as for PurThread staff. Her product knowledge and expertise make her an invaluable asset throughout the product lifecycle, from research and development and functional product design though clinical trials and product adoption. Ms. Goss brings over 25 years in the healthcare industry including critical care, cardiology and trauma nursing. Prior to PurThread, Ms. Goss was a program manager for a medical education company. She has previously worked on hospital-based clinical trials and as a Senior Manager at McKesson HBOC Access Health Group. She holds a diploma in nursing from St. Vincent’s Medical Center College of Nursing, and has extensively studied biology at Sweet Briar College, and nursing at Sacred Heart University.
